MAI: Monitor DAA Status per Host with local OS script (not via selfmonitoring)

Hi,

we are using Solman 7.1 SP13 for technical monitoring.

As the status of the diagnostics agent of every host is a crucial for the monitoring infrastructure, it is important to monitor them.

Solman self monitoring offers this option BUT the configuration is very limited. If we plan a downtime for a single system we would have to maintain a downtime for our SolMan system instead of the correct host, the DAA is located on.

So we need a WORKING metric, we could add to every host which checks if the diagnostics agent is alive:

1. Check the service: to check a service on the remote host
2. Use DAA Metric per host
3. execute sapcontrol remote:
   1. create Script on OS-Level which runs ./sapcontrol -nr 98 -format script -function GetProcessList -host localhost
   2. copy script and sapcontrol.exe (DAA Agent doesn't know, where sapcontrol is) to server
   3. create new Metric
   4. Data Collector:Diagnostic-Agent (Push)
   5. Name of DC: Remote OS script
4. execute sapcontrol on solution manager server
   1. run local command (sm49?) sapncontrol with parameters <host> and <instance number>

1) Only checking the service isn't sufficent and MAI uses the DAA --> so this can't work

2) there are NO working metrics you can choose on host base to monitor the status of the diagagent. we tried every single one.

3) it works but is'nt very nice: unneccessery manual work, outdated sapcontrol files, very os-specific,...

4) THIS would be our preferred solution. But the OS COMMAND ADAPTER is only described as auto-reaction, not as metric and we didn't find any other solution. Perhaps copy the data collector "remote OS script" to "local OS script".

Perhaps anyone has tried this already and come up with a better solution?
